Is an AI tutor safe for kids?

It is a fair question, and a good one to ask before your child uses any app. Here are the main things to look for, and how Tutzy handles each.

Parents should be in charge

Look for an app where a parent creates the account, chooses the year and subjects, and can see what their child has been studying. In Tutzy, a parent sets up each student, and the parent area is protected by Face ID or a PIN.

No ads and no selling of data

Children's apps should not show ads or sell their information. Tutzy shows no ads, and student data is not sold. Read the privacy policy of any app you consider.

Photos and documents

Students can send a photo of their work to get help, but only if a parent switches this on for that student. In Tutzy, photos are used to answer the question and are not stored.

Safety alerts

If a student says something worrying, a good app tells the parent. Tutzy sends safety alerts to the parent.

Accuracy

AI can make mistakes. Encourage children to check important work, and to tell you when something does not seem right.
